Don’t Go To The Store Hungry

Today’s blog goes out to all the single ladies looking for a man. After a Tweet I sent regarding single ladies choosing a man I received such a good response I decided to write a little blog about it. I have seen far too many woman fall suspect to letting there loneliness make decision for them. If its one thing I have learned down through the years it’s, never give the one thing God values (The Heart) to just anyone. 1 Samuel 16:7 talks about how “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” When you leave church and the “Hammond B3 Organ” stops playing the heart is the one “Organ” that will keep playing, and you can’t give that up easily. Loneliness is a natural feeling that we all have felt at some point in our life. But you have to make sure that you don’t let your hunger for a man drive you to pick up just any man. I can remember going to the store with my mother, and trying to put all kinds of junk food in the cart. She would say “Brandon don’t ever go to the store hungry because you will get a bunch of junk that you don’t need”. So I say the same thing to all single ladies that are hungry for a man. Don’t go man shopping while you are hungry because you will most likely get junk. You need to make sure that the empty places in your life are filled with Christ before you look for a man. Ephesians 3:19 says “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” Please don’t get me wrong I completely believe in the union of marriage, the Bible teaches that marriage is honorable. Where most people get stuck is in dating. The Bible doesn’t speak about “dating” so most people learn from watching others. I wish there was a school called “Learning How To Date University” Unfortunately the only school there is, is life, and the people teaching haven’t mastered it them selves. So you have to stay prayerful that God would give you wisdom in dating and in choosing a mate. If your going to be hungry for something let your hunger be to please God. Matthew 5:6 says “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” I pray that in your search for a mate you continue to seek God for fulfillment, because a man will never be able to satisfy your hunger only God can. Below I have placed the entire 31st chapter of Proverbs here as a guide for a Godly woman.

Proverbs 31 : 1-31

1The sayings of King Lemuel—an oracle his mother taught him: 2 "O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows,3 do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings. 4 "It is not for kings, O Lemuel— not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, 5 lest they drink and forget what the law decrees, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. 6 Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish; 7 let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more. 8 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character 10 [c] A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. 18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. 19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. 20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. 25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
