"Studying Gods Word Is Important"

Today’s Blog should cause you to take a real look at your study habits and get you to determine if you are spending enough time in the Word of God. Psalm 12:6 says “The words of the LORD are flawless”. I recently asked the question on twitter “What are some reasons people don’t read the Bible?” There are so many excuses people can give; I have listed just a few below. There is a great deal of importance when it come to reading and understanding God’s word. 2 Timothy 3:16–17 says “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” I am speaking from personal experience; this is the only book that gives life. Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” The Bible literally is an instruction manual on how to live on earth and how to make it into Heaven. I have made many of the below excuses at one point in time. If you are making any of these excuses you should pray that God would help you in that area. Studying Gods Word is important. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” God desires us to search his Word and to fully explore it’s treasures. Understanding the Bible is not always easy, but it is definitely rewarding.

We can not let these excuses stop us from studying Gods Word

The Bible is so hard to understand.

I usually end up feeling convicted and guilty when I read the Bible.

I need to be taught by the Pastor, Elder or Sunday school teacher in order to understand the Bible.

I have some real doubts about the reliability of the Bible because it's full of contradictions.

The Bible seems boring to me.

No time to study due to job, family and church.

I prefer other inspirational books.

I feel that the Bible was written by man so I don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong.

The Bible was written so long ago that it doesn't seem relevant to me.

I don’t know were to start.

Reading and understanding the Bible is important because the Bible is God’s Word. When we open the Bible, we are literally reading God’s message to us. What could be more important than reading what the creator of the universe has to say? In Acts 30 Philip was traveling to Gaza, the Holy Spirit led him to a man who was reading a portion of Isaiah. Philip approached the man, saw what he was reading, and asked this very important question: “Do you understand what you are reading?” Act 8:30 Philip knew that understanding was the starting point for faith. Without reading and understanding the Bible, we cannot apply it, obey it, or believe it.
